Three and a crowd

Zoe is three, and boy did she love celebrating that. The excitement started weeks before, as did the Happy Birthday singing, but the festivities really kicked off on her actual birthday, with presents in the morning, a party at Sandy school and more presents and cake in the evening. Next day there was another party at Iluka day care, but the real big thing had to wait till the following Saturday, when Zoe and Lucia celebrated together in our back yard. About 25 kids and at least as many adults came, and it was great fun. We had a jumping castle, there were sweets galore, sausages sizzled, kids tore the place apart and by 2 in the afternoon even the two birthday girls were ready to call it a day - as were we.

Yo! I can dance

This is in front of the local youth club in Bondi where Mowgli and his posse of local hip-hoppers hang out, and while Zoe is actually more of a little ballerina she doesn't mind blending styles occasionally.

Art is fun

Every year in October the ocean walk between Bondi and Tamarama Beach turns into a massive open-air sculpture park. It is a usually a hodgepodge of art, from truly inspired to cooky to bland, but is always worth a visit, if only for the spectacular backdrop. This year was Zoe's second Sculpture by the Sea stroll and she thoroughly enjoyed herself as she - and numerous other kids - had a rather tactile approach to the artworks and turned the area into a giant playground. Remember for next year: go on a weekday, it's less of a zoo.
