tongue rolled or tongue tied

considering how vocal zoe is, it is ironic that she has been diagnosed as being tongue tied. for those of you not down with the baby medico lingo, tongue tied means her frenulum (bit of tissue under yer tongue) is too short, which, according to some literature, may cause speech impedi-ments. she can't stick out her tongue but she's an avid tongue roller!

loneliness - a feeling i have become acquainted with only of late and amusingly enough not an emotion that in my pre-zoe times i would've associated with being a mum. it's mostly on sundays when jens is at work, the weather is bad and all my mum-friends are otherwise busy. today is perhaps not the best day to be reflecting on this as zoe had a corker of a bad day....think she's teething. he, he i know that sounds so cliched but it does look like her bottom right tooth is pushing through. oh won't breastfeeding take on a whole new dimension, ooouch.

time to...

now that zoe is SLEEPING THROUGH i actually have time to do a spot of beauty care, foot spa, sorting out my crusty old cosmetics and facials.

zoe sat up all on her own today!!! she was pushing with all her might to get vertical from her side when i gave her a finger for her to pull herself up on. it must have gone 'cher-ching' for her cause i lay her back down and the next time i walked in she was sitting up all on her own. of coure i raced for the phone to tell jens and next for the camera, where unfortunately the flash frightened her so she fell back into a lying position again!

i finally trecked down to ikea to get zoe a high chair as i am sick of wearing her breakfast, lunch and dinner. she likes it so much she has taken to dancing in it...

björning it up the mountain

while we were on the sunshine coast we headed to the glasshouse mountains for a spot of hiking, well the track we selected ended up being more climbing than hiking. i was zoe's pack horse on the accent and thankfully sacha kindly offered for the decent.

zoe's first special friend

carl and zoe hit it off like a house on fire! any time carl would dance (turn on the spot), play hide and seek behind the sofa or even sometimes just smile at her, zoe would erupt in a cascade of giggles. this did prove to be somewhat helpful....like when i accidently doinked zoe's head on the car door all we had to do was call carl over to do a dance and zoe's world was all smiles again :) hmm now i understand why people have a second one.

zoe is becoming increasingly bored with simply hanging out on the floor with her toys which means i am needing to include her in my daily chores. thank goodness for the björn!

although this photo portrays a very harmonious and peaceful zoe she did not like the cold pool water at all! upon approaching the pool she spotted carl and was all smiles UNTIL her toes hit the water. given she loves bath time and the day was lovely and warm i thought she'd fare well. oh well we'll have to try at some urine peppered indoor pool soon!

so happy to be home

as much fun as it was travelling the globe to introduce zoe to oodles of people, win paganello, eat lots of sorely missed food (especially german yoghurt and bread), catch up with friends and visit old favourites and exciting new places i am sooooooooo glad to be home. zoe getting her first cold, urinary tract infection and middle ear infection on the trip did complicate matters and the weather was better back here anyhow :)

a few days after arriving home friends from germany (mary anne, joe, carl and suse), who are here for sarah and sacha's wedding also arrived....and only a few days thereafter zoe and i headed north with them to perigian beach to soak up some queensland sun.
